So I’ve recently purchased an iPad and am having a right out ball with the thing. I’ve been downloading apps right, left and centre and after a suggestion from a couple of friends, decided to check out Angry Birds HD. This game is pretty awesome considering how simple it initially seems. The premise of the game is that you are a bunch of birds and these green pigs stole your eggs. Out of anger, you retaliate, trying to take out the pigs to get your eggs back. Each level is a crazy puzzle, because it’s not just about angles and [ Read More ]
There are plenty of reviews out there about World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, I know; I just have to share my own thoughts on the subject regardless. I’ve been playing Warcraft for about four or five years now and have enjoyed it, for the most part. Some of the new content from the Lich King expansion pack was pretty darned cool to me. I loved the new “phased” storyline-style content that came with the Death Knights and some of the areas, such as the northern parts of Dragonblight. So when Cataclysm came out and continued with the phased story-based quest lines, [ Read More ]
I know it’s been a while. I’m hoping to start blogging again soon. Part of the problem is that I didn’t really have much to say, but I think enough has been going on that this might change in the very near future (at least, I hope so!). So, sorry if I’ve bored you with my utter nothingness, but hopefully I’ll be more ‘around’ soon enough! //
So while a week and a half of my 3-week-long vacation is gone, I can’t say that all I did was laze-about, doing nothing. I have been productive! I have accomplished the following: Figured out that making scones is not as hard as it sounds — and blueberries go really well in them! Managed to bake my first from-scratch muffins (again, blueberry!) and not only wowed the hubby, but also Mom! Also managed to use up the last of the free blueberries before they went bad to make syrup for blueberry soda! Cleaned the bathroom (mostly — have to finish [ Read More ]
I’ve been uber-productive at work as of late and I’d like to say that I’m darned proud of what I’ve been doing. As some of you may or may not know, I’m working as a research help library assistant at a university library. Besides my duties of working on the research help library and offering virtual reference services (IM/email/phone help) for a certain number of hours per week, I’m also the scheduler for that desk and am the backup person for the coordinator of our students with disabilities services department. This was all well and good and I’m very pleased [ Read More ]
Besides the blog’s new theme, I’ve also tweaked the php files a bit to make the two sidebars on the right display a little more of what I wanted and not what was dictated previously. See, I don’t want to lose a lot of the nifty graphic stuff or CSS which seemed to disappear whenever I installed widgets int he sidebars, so it finally got me to mucking with the php files to get it to display how I wanted it to. I moved some of the modules around so itw as more balanced and there wasn’t this huge chunk [ Read More ]
Okay, this just amuses me to no end. Way to go, guys. Library laptop lending promo (with more ninja!) //
When I started posting to this blog again, I said I wasn’t going to rant in this space. I’ve done well, I think. But something just came up and I can’t keep quiet. I’ve just watched the Dr. Phil show called “Killer Texting” and I have to say that I am appalled to hear that people can’t resist the urge to text-message people while they are driving. What are people thinking?? … I really am speechless. The worst part of this is that these people don’t even qualify as Darwin Award candidates. These people aren’t necessarily taking themselves out; they’re [ Read More ]
So I’ve spent most of my workday reading up about website and document accessibility. Why? Well, as a library assistant, I’m also working as needed in our Library Services for Students with Disabilities office (hopefully to increase my hours in there starting the fall). While our coordinator’s focus is providing alternate formats of required text materials for our registered students, my interests lie in the more techie-side of things, as usual. My time in the office is obviously spent focusing on the above student needs, of course, but I have a personal interest in making the web more accessible since [ Read More ]
So I was talking to a friend earlier today about my “web presence”. And although my readership might be small and tiny, I personally have my fingers in way too much out there on the net, it seems. I have at least a dozen blogs, a handful of wikis, two or three websites, about a dozen email addresses, and accounts on librarything, momentile, last.FM, delicious.com, twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, Photobucket and likely a couple I’m not thinking of right now. What am I going to do with all of this? Am I considering culling the herd a bit? You betcha. [ Read More ]
